Mr Adam Lomax
MBBS FRCS (Tr & Orth)
“I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgeon with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2015. My elective practice is entirely dedicated to foot and ankle surgery.
Originally from Sheffield, I graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2003.
After a brief period working in the North-East of England, I moved to Glasgow in 2005 to take up my surgical training. During this time, I trained extensively with the most experienced foot and ankle surgeons in Scotland.
In 2012 I successfully achieved the FRCS (Tr & Orth) qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons and I was entered onto the GMC’s specialist register for trauma and orthopaedic surgery in 2014.
I left Scotland in 2014 for a period of highly specialist foot and ankle fellowship training in London.
Firstly, I worked at the internationally renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Here, I trained with some of the UK’s leading and most experienced foot and ankle surgeons, treating a wide variety of complex foot and ankle cases referred from throughout the UK.
I then undertook a dedicated sports foot and ankle fellowship at the highly regarded Fortius Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic. Working directly with leading experts in sports injuries of the foot and ankle, I gained extensive experience in treating a wide variety of sports related foot and ankle conditions. Patients treated included both elite professionals along with recreational athletes from a broad spectrum of sporting disciplines.
During this time, I also worked at the Princess Grace Hospital with one of London’s most experienced foot and ankle surgeons from the London Orthopaedic Clinic.
In 2016, having been awarded two prestigious travelling fellowships from the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and the West of Scotland Orthopaedic Research Committee, I spent time visiting a leading foot and ankle trauma unit in Dresden, Germany.
I have authored numerous book chapters and scientific articles in widely read foot and ankle journals. I have also presented my research at numerous orthopaedic conferences. I have been a member of the editorial board for the Bone and Joint 360 journal for 3 years and also provide expert peer review on foot and ankle research articles for The Bone and Joint Journal."
